Ellen Ofstad comes from Norway. She has worked as a trainer and instructor full time since 1984. She is constantly expanding her knowledge of horses and studying horses behavior and training methods.
After living and working with horses for several years in the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Texas, Arizona and Korea she moved to Sweden in 2003 where she currently lives with her husband Gunnar, their horses, dogs and cat.
Ellen give clinics all over Scandinavia with the main focus being body language, clicker training, long reining and «unnatural horsemanship» (because what we do with horses simply isn’t natural).
She is also working on making more films together with her husband Gunnar who both films and edit the movies.
One is about foal training; the easy and best way to teach a foal from the beginning.
One is about clicker training all animals; how animals learn in general, showing zoo animals and specifically how to get started with horses.
Gunnar and Ellen are also working on an «unnatural horsemanship film» which focuses on communication with body-language, bonding without chasing a horse in a round-pen and how to get a horse to respond to a soft feel and getting a motivated and happy horse.
It goes through how to transfer the signals from…
- working a horse loose
- to working it on a line
- to lounging it
- to long reining
- to riding
…in a way that makes it simple for the horse to understand.
